In a unique twist on this year’s Spirit & Place theme of NATURE, we invite you hear from author, rabbi, and field scholar at the Emory Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality, Jay Michaelson. As a field scholar, Michaelson’s work focuses on the varieties of psychedelic mystical experiences and how communities can better utilize these newly accessible tools for spiritual growth. The “Psychedelic Renaissance” is well underway. But what does this emerging phenomenon mean for society, religion, and how organizations operate? Bringing his twenty years of experience as a meditation teacher, scholar, and journalist to this new psychological and spiritual arena, Michaelson’s aims to make the subject matter both accessible and thought-provoking. Book sales and reception begin at 6PM with Jay’s talk beginning at 6:30PM.
Presented by Spirit & Place in partnership with JCC Indianapolis with support from IU Presidential Arts & Humanities Program.
This event is part of Spirit & Place’s Big Tent Talks which launched in 2024 and presents notable and inspirational speakers focused on faith and spirituality.
