SUMMARY:How to Eat with Tuning Forks
DESCRIPTION:Collectively create a soundscape by eating lunch in front of microphones\, banging on kitchen percussion\, and talking about the foods that nourish you. \nHere’s the deal: Bring your own lunch to the Garfield Park Arts Center\, but make sure it’s a meal that balances both your need for nourishment and convenience. You’ll then be invited to chew\, crunch\, munch\, gobble – you know\, eat! – in front of microphones while also considering what it is about this meal that nourishes you (however you define “nourish!”) and meets your need for convenience. A live musician playing ambient chords along with some “kitchen percussion” will play in the background with the sounds of eating\, story sharing\, and music blending together into a recorded soundscape. \nQuestions? Contact 317-345-0176 or clockworkmakesmusic@gmail.com. \nEvent Partners: Clockwork Music\, Arts with a Purpose\, and Garfield Park Arts Center. \nAudience Note: If you are not comfortable being in front of a microphone helping to make improvisational music\, tables and chairs will be set to the side … but we really encourage you to make some totally unique art with us! While this can be a come-and-go style event\, here’s what will be going on when: \n12 – Doors open\n12:15 – Introduction\, tutorial on reading a graphic score\n12: 20- Write your own Lunch Story\, talking with a neighbor is encouraged\n12:30(ish) – Lunch is self-served (bring your own!). Eat and create this soundscape together.\n1:30 – Mingling\n2:00 – Doors close \nEvent Registration: Registration requested by Nov. 11. Walk-ins welcome. \n \nImage/Logo Credit: Ankh Productions

SUMMARY:**Award of Awesomeness Nominee! ** Monumental Changes: History and Power in Public Art
DESCRIPTION:VIEW THE ONLINE EXHIBIT AND WATCH A RECORDING OF THE PANEL CONVERSATION HERE. \nExplore the role of power and memory in public art. Learn about the history\, controversy\, and recent removal of a Confederate monument in Garfield Park and envision an equitable future for the site through this exhibition and panel discussion featuring Dr. Paul Mullins\, Jordan Ryan\, and Danicia Monet. \nThe exhibition will include historical information about the Confederate monument in Garfield Park as well as examination of the role of monuments as public art – and the power of public art in (re)shaping memory. Both the exhibit and panel discussion will invite the public to envision a more equitable future for the site. \nThe exhibit – with interactive virtual reality programming! – opens at 6pm on Nov. 5 with the panel discussion occurring from 7-8pm. \nThe exhibit will run from Nov. 5-17 and available for viewing from 10am-5pm\, Tuesday through Saturday. \nA partnership between Garfield Park Arts Center\, University Library—IUPUI\, and students at IU School of Liberal Arts Museum Studies Program at IUPUI\, and Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI. \nQuestions? Contact 317-327-7135 or GPAC@indy.gov. \nThis event is currently scheduled to occur in-person. Register by Nov. 5 and note this event will adhere to prevailing local guidance on COVID-19. Thoroughly read confirmation details sent by the host. \nThis opinion is confirmed by the author of the book “How to meet a girl? A tutorial ussexguide las vegas on meeting girls for young guys” by Airat Kalimullinsky. He argues that many men set themselves up for failure in advance\, thinking\, for example\, that the girl they liked has a pair. \n \nThis event is part of the Spirit & Place Festival. Click here to discover more festival events! \nSpirit & Place is a self-funded community initiative housed in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI.  \n  \n
