DESCRIPTION:You can use a laugh\, right? Who can’t these days?! \nFor our 2nd annual spring faith event\, Spirit & Place is absolutely giddy to invite you to join Rabbi Bob Alper\, Rev. Susan Sparks (a former Spirit & Place Public Conversationalist)\, and Muslim comic Gibran Saleem for a fun-filled evening of interfaith comedy that highlights our commonalities. You will think\, laugh and leave with a little different view of the world. Registration for the Laugh in Peace Comedy Show will open soon! \nPresented by Spirit & Place in partnership with The Indianapolis Public Library and made possible through the generous support of Lilly Endowment Inc. \n*Tickets are free; max 4.\n*Masking is not required\, but is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.\n*Registration closes on May 18. DESCRIPTION:Watch the short film “When We Were Syrian: Early Lebanese in Indianapolis” here. \nWatch a debut performance of the film\, “When We Were Syrian: Early Lebanese in Indianapolis\,” and learn more about the forgotten past of Arab Indianapolis. \n“When We Were Syrian” is a deeply moving autobiographical short film that reveals a past overlooked in the dominant narrative of white\, Protestant\, Anglo-Saxon Indianapolis. The stories of these Arab ancestors and their contributions is a mirror through which we can recognize the truth: that we were (and are) a city of many peoples. That truth will lead us toward a deeper love of this place\, the city we all share. \nFilmmaker Josh Chitwood and historian Edward Curtis will introduce the film and then engage the audience in a Q&A session afterwards. \nA partnership between Arab Indianapolis\, Chitwood Media\, and Central Library. \nQuestions?
