SUMMARY:Forest Bathing to Nourish the Mind\, Body\, & Soul
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT. Please contact event organizers to inquire about a waitlist.\n \nASL Upon Request by Oct. 27.  \nEnjoy a 60-minute guided walk through Crown Hill Cemetery’s Arboretum that will nourish an appreciation for the benefits of nature. \n“Forest bathing” promotes interaction between humans and wooded spaces\, which is deeply needed in a culture that too often sees nature as a commodity to be bought\, sold\, transformed\, and used. Studies have shown the health benefits of being in nature – it can lower blood pressure\, calm heart rates\, and reduce levels of harmful hormones all while helping individuals form stronger connections to their communities. Led by a guide certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs\, this event invites you to listen to nature\, savor the sounds and smells of the outdoors\, and be mindful of the ways nature can nourish the mind\, body\, and soul. \nQuestions? Contact 317-920-2644 or jrdinius@crownhill.org. \nEvent Partners: Crown Hill Heritage Foundation\, Indiana DNR—Division of Forestry\, and Wanderwood Studio. \nEvent Registration: Due limited space\, registration is required. Walk-in guests cannot be accommodated.

SUMMARY:**Award of Awesomeness Nominee! ** Monarchs in a Changing World: How These Butterflies Bring Us Together
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS CURRENTLY OPERATING A WAITLIST. \nLearn about monarch butterflies and the importance of conservation while helping to complete a new mural! \nIs there a better metaphor for “change” than the metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis and finally to butterfly? This mysterious transformation process has evoked awe for millennia. This event asks what wider transformation needs to happen for our world to remain hospitable to these magnificent creatures. \nUnder the guidance of mural artist Megan Jefferson\, attendees will help complete a 4-panel mural while learning about the monarch butterfly life cycle. Staff with the Central Indiana Land Trust and Indiana Wildlife Federation will share how we can all work together to conserve the monarch’s habitat – which in turn supports other plants and animals! Everyone gets to go home with milkweed seeds (the only food monarch larvae eat) to plant at home. \nA partnership between Central Indiana Land Trust\, Jefferson Art Studio\, and Indiana Wildlife Federation. \nQuestions?
