SUMMARY:Civic Circle: Religious Pluralism (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Spirit & Place’s Civic Circle gatherings invite you to reflect on our democracy and grapple with what it means to live by America’s civic values. This spring we will focus on the value of religious pluralism by using a different source material at each gathering. In other words\, each dialogue is unique! \nWhether or not you are a person of faith\, the Constitution protects you. So what does “religious pluralism” mean in terms of a shared civic or societal value? How is it different than religious liberty and how do we live into the work of nurturing a religiously pluralistic society? \nUsing the civic reflection dialogue method\, this participatory gathering – you’ll be doing most of the talking! – aims to help you unpack your civic values with others who also care about their role as citizens\, that is\, as those who show up for each other in public life. \nRegister using the button below. A Zoom link will be emailed to you separately.

SUMMARY:Powerful Conversations on Race - Exterminate All the Brutes\, Pt. 4
DESCRIPTION:Powerful Conversations on Race [PCR] is a monthly community dialogue series exploring topics around race and racism and the resulting impact. \nPowerful Conversations on Race is a way for us to get comfortable talking about uncomfortable histories and is\, therefore\, rooted in historical documents and subject matter. \nThis IS NOT a lecture or book club\, but a space for community to come together and dive deeply into a variety of topics concerning race. This is an immersive experience. As such\, we’ll spend a considerable amount of time in small groups to dialogue with each other about these topics. \nFor the May 2023 dialogue\, we will wrap up our dialogue sessions focused on the documentary “Exterminate All the Brutes\,” which dives into the historical context of white supremacy and whiteness. The documentary is approximately 1 hour long and will be followed by 1+ hour of dialogue. THIS GATHERING IS VIRTUAL ONLY. \nAll dialogues are virtual and occur on Eastern Standard Time / Eastern Daylight Time. \nRegistration ends at 12noon on the day of the event. A Zoom link will be sent prior to the event date. \nRegister Below.
