Spirit & Place Festival

The Spirit & Place Festival celebrates, explores, challenges, and provides time for reflection on a common theme every November. In its 25th year, the festival continues to highlight the power of collaboration through independently organized events that use the arts, religion, and/or humanities as tools for shaping individual and community life. The festival is 11 days long and event partners, formats, and locations change with each offering.

Scroll down to find a complete listing of all 2020 festival events. Click on the event title to learn more and to find registration links.  ALL events are subject to change. This website is the best place to verify dates and times.

We also invite you to download a 2020 event calendar and/or Event Guide (when ready).

If you'd like to explore past festival events, download the 2019 Event Guide and check out our 2018 event calendar.

Should I RSVP to an event?
The 2020 Festival is largely virtual. You must register directly with each event to receive the necessary Zoom (or other virtual platform) links to participate. Click on the title of the event you wish to attend (see below) and then follow the registration instructions.

Are the events accessible?
We welcome people of all abilities to participate in Spirit & Place Festival events.

For question about accessibility or to discuss accommodations, please contact event organizers no later than 48hr prior to an event.

Spirit & Place will live caption the 25th Annual Public Conversation with Pádraig O’Tuama and Manon Voice on Nov. 15 and will have a closed-caption video of the Opening Night available on its website.

For future (post-pandemic!) reference, most events are free and located in ADA compliant facilities, but a few of our partners operate historic structures and you may need to call ahead to confirm your needs. For questions about accessibility or to discuss accommodations, please contact the event hosts, festival@iupui.edu, or 317-274-2462.

Is there large font version of the Event Guide?
A large font (text only) Festival Event Guide will ready for download by mid-October.
