Event Description:

Join an unprecedented discussion among philanthropy experts in religion, international health care, corporate citizenship, research, fundraising, and economics as they explore the history and future of the nonprofit sector. The distinguished panel will feature a presentation on “The Filer Commission” by Diana Aviv, president and CEO of Independent Sector. “The Filer Commission” provided critical space for philanthropy and the nonprofit sector to be studied, understood, and taught. A panel discussion will follow. Panelists include scholars from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University: Phil Cochran, Thomas W. Binford Chair in Corporate Citizenship and a professor of management with the Indiana University Kelley School of Business; Kirsten Grønbjerg, Efroymson Chair in Philanthropy and professor in the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI; William J. Jackson, Thomas H. Lake Scholar in Religion and Philanthropy; Una Okonkwo Osili, professor of economics at Indiana University; Adrian Sargeant, Robert F. Hartsook Chair in Fundraising; and William H. Schneider, Constance M. Baker and Robert S. Ort Chair in International Healthcare Philanthropy, IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. Following the discussion, each panelist will lead a discipline-specific breakout discussion. Admission is free. Presented by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and Spirit & Place.
