2016 Festival Events

The 2016 Spirit & Place Festival will occur November 4-13.

Signature Events & Award of Awesomeness Nominees
Spirit & Place is proud to present five Signature Events in this year's festival: The Dog Ate My Homework featuring a newly commissioned spoken word piece by Tony Styxx, An Evening with Elizabeth Strout in partnership with the Butler University Visiting Writers Series, the ambitious Side-by-Side programming with Roberts Park UMC, and the 21st Annual Public Conversation hosted by our official 2016 venue partner, Indiana Landmarks. We're also continuing our year-long partnership with the Kheprw Institute in which we've been exploring the issue of gentrification through the workshop From the Ground UpNine additional events have been recognized this year for exemplifying the values that make the Spirit & Place Festival special. These "Award of Awesomeness" nominees are in the running for a $1,000 award that will be announced at the Public Conversation on November 13.

How do I navigate the online listings?
Events below are listed in date order. To see events listed alphabetically, click "Title" at the top of the graph. Click "Date" to return events to date order.

Should I RSVP to an event? Please do! In most cases you will gladly be welcomed as a walk-in if you decide to attend last minute. (If an event reads, "Walk-ins welcome," the event host means it!) But, it helps our partners plan for enough chairs, snacks, and handouts if you RSVP. Keep in mind some events, especially those with ticket costs and/or limited seating, require RSVPs. Read event descriptions carefully and plan accordingly.

The RSVP system will open in early to mid-September and will be located on this page.
