Thursday, November 12, 2020 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
at Virtual Event
Special Venue Instructions:
Presented by Immigrant Welcome Center and Southeast Community Services.
Hear from several Immigrant Welcome Center Natural Helper Ambassadors as they share stories reflecting the commonalities and uniqueness of their origins. Through their lived experiences, participants will be able to reflect on their own origin stories and how Indianapolis is strengthened through its diversity.
The Immigrant Welcome Center’s lead volunteers are called Natural Helpers, and they help immigrants and refugees transition to life in Indianapolis. Natural Helpers are immigrants themselves who understand the challenges of moving to a new place, learning a new language, finding employment, and establishing a home in the United States. In 2020, Immigrant Welcome Center launched its Natural Helpers Ambassador program which provides additional training to Natural Helpers in facilitation, public speaking, storytelling, and advocacy.
