Event Description:

The play Birth blends humor and passion to reveal the miracle of childbirth and the power of motherhood. Stay to enjoy post-performance discussion, information booths, and story-sharing.

Created by mother and playwright Karen Brody, Birth has been called “the naked truth about childbirth.” The cast represents the birthing spectrum from liberal, “My body rocks!” Amanda, to strong-willed, no-nonsense Vanessa. The event is part of BOLD (Birth on Labor Day), a global arts-based movement aspiring to make maternity care more mother-friendly and to create childbirth choices for mothers around the world. ( At the close of the play, a moderator will lead a post-show discussion with the audience and information booths about different aspects of birth will be available.

Not appropriate for young audiences.

Presented by HealthNet; Theatre on the Square; University Heights United Methodist Church–BIBS Pantry; and University of Indianapolis School of NursingNurse-Midwifery Program, and Dept. of Theatre. Questions? Call 317-782-2111 or email
